Bringing falcons & hawks
Can I bring my hawk?
We have decided to allow people to bring hawks. Obviously this might be affected if there is a notifiable disease outbreak, and we will keep you posted on this. You are encouraged to bring a wide variety of falconry raptors from Merlins to Eagles. You will need to bring a perch and bath for it and make proper provisions for it at night; ensure that items are marked with your name. Food will be available on site, supplied by Honeybrook Animal Foods. For the sake of the hawk and the reputation of Falconry, we have set certain ground rules which must be followed. You can bring one hawk per person provided:
* All birds of prey coming to the show have to have been registered with the organiser prior to the festival.
* You have notified your Camp Welfare Officer of your hawk’s legal and health certification details (we are required by law to keep these records for three months).
* Your hawk carries the owner’s name and telephone number and is properly secured at all times. We cannot afford careless people releasing a hawk by mistake.
* Your hawk is well-behaved, in good feather and health, is not stressed and carries good, clean equipment.
* You follow instructions of your Camp Welfare Officer and use the Veterinary Facility on site if needed.
* You do not offer your hawk for sale.
Can I bring my owl?
Please do not bring any owls to carry on the fist. This will not be allowed. However, for owl enthusiasts there will be a special owl exhibit with aviaries and Owl specialists will be available for advice, both on the care and breeding of owls, and on the conservation of wild owls.
Can I fly my hawk?
Only a few invited participants will be flying hawks in the main arena. There will be no flying at live game or sky trials. If you have some suitable hawks, please contact the organisers.
* I cannot import my hawk from overseas
* We will link you with UK falconers.
* They may also help with dogs and horses etc.
* They may also help with logistical details.
